Devastated

The Register reports that suprnova.org is to close down. Mere words cannot fully express my sadness. What am I to do? What is the point of having Broadband if I can't fill every creaking inch of the pipe with downloads I'll never actually use. I blame Thatcher!

  • Yep - sad day indeed. Other torrent sites can be found here - http://home.quicknet.nl/qn/prive/romeria/bittorrentsites.htm.
Another thing worth considering is newsgroups. They can be difficult to navigate but there is a site which makes it really easy to get 'stuff' and the newsgroups give you faster access - you not depending on lots of torrent seeds and you don't need to upload either. Have a look at Newzbin - http://www.newzbin.com/. You can easily browse groups and then one click gets you all the files you need as long as you have the correct Newsgroup application.

  • Thanks for the tips. I was a heavy user of newsgroups a long time ago but I haven't used them in ages apart from google's usenet archive. One of the best things about Demon, as an ISP, was that it carried near full binary groups, I don't know what the story is now. It's only a matter of time before they're all gone too. Maybe, in the future, we'll look back on this as a golden age of the internet.
