TV Screen Sizes

I've noticed from the site logs that an old post about screen size comparisons is quite popular so I've updated it to reflect the current favourite sizes for flat panel manufacturers (click on image to enlarge).

We have a lovely 26" Samsung LCD in the bedroom which has prompted the desire to finally replace our old 28" CRT in the living room. With the bad experience of the Sony I can't really see us looking further than Samsung panel now. Great looking TVs with a top quality picture in standard definition running off the in-built freeview tuner. I really must do a proper review of it here.

Anyway, I hope the image above is helpful in settling on a screen size to suit your own requirements. I find it handy to see what the extra cash really buys you for a bigger diagonal size.

  • The Panasonic LCDs are supposed to be among the best. I got my parents a 37" 1080p at Christmas and it is a very nice TV.

  • I note your Sony comment with interest.

Sony and Samsung have a joint TV panel factory and the quality is identical (Sony did waver during initial production for the first few weeks, then realised that Samsung quality was top notch).

However, my view that the Panasonics are the best on the market is still to be proved incorrect..:-)
